My work focuses on the dysregulation of iron metabolism in various conditions. My current research interests include the role of iron in the pathogenesis of gestational diabetes mellitus, with a particular focus on its impact on pancreatic beta-cell function. Additionally, I am investigating the role of iron in wound healing, especially in the context of chronic wounds such as pressure ulcers. I have been awarded a grant by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to conduct an RCT on iron supplementation during pregnancy and its potential impact on the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus. In the past, we have worked on various aspects of iron metabolism in the context of diabetes mellitus, pregnancy, inflammation, chronic liver disease and anemia. I am interested in collaborating with scientists working in any of the above fields, especially diabetes mellitus and wound-healing research.
