Jacob John is Professor of Community Medicine at the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India. He heads the Centre for Public Health at CMC Vellore and serves as the Vice Principal for Research. Jacob received his MBBS from CMC Ludhiana, MD in Community Medicine from CMC Vellore, and PhD from Imperial College London. He is an elected Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences. As a public health physician focused on preventing avoidable morbidity and mortality in children, his work and research emphasise controlling vaccine-preventable infectious diseases. Over the past two decades, Jacob has contributed to vaccine policy for Poliovirus, Hib, Rotavirus, Pneumococcus, and Typhoid, conducting vaccine trials, including pivotal phase 3 trials, and multicentre epidemiological projects. He has authored over 140 publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
